Tantric Speech = Expressing Your Pleasure and Desires For Pleasure In Positive, Life-Enriching Language…
What does it mean to use “tantric speech”? In the Authentic Tantra® modality this means to express PLEASURE using language that is life enriching i.e. uplifting to the spirit, nourishing to the soul.
Why is this important?
There are a few reasons:
#1- Language and words are VIBRATIONAL.
They carry energy. This energy can either be uplifting or depleting. In Tibetan Medicine, it is believed that negative speech depletes the life-force energy and can contribute to illness and/or early death.
#2 – The language we use to describe our experiences…
is a reflection of our cultural and societal beliefs. There are NO words in the English language that describe our genitals or sexual experience as something sacred. Our language choices in this society are either clinical or crude – such as “vagina” which means “sheath” or “Pussy” which is a word used as an insult to men. Likewise, the words “cock, dick, prick” all insults, and depending on how they are used, may carry curse energy.
This is one of the reasons we use words like “Yoni” = Sacred Space, or “Lingam” = “Wand of Light” in Tantra. These are Sanskrit words for the human genital anatomy that are encoded with the sacredness of the human sexual experience.
This does not mean that we don’t use the “proper medical terminology” for genital anatomy. We just are mindful that what is considered “correct medical terminology” is also rooted in sex-negativity.
For instance, the word “masturbation” means “to disturb or defile” and the Latin word “pudendal” (which is the nerve responsible for pleasure in the clitoral and penile glans) translates as “to be ashamed”
